What is digital infrastructure?

Digital infrastructure is the physical and logical foundation that supports digital services: facilities, power, cooling, networks, servers, storage, cloud platforms, shared services and operational processes.

Is cloud infrastructure still physical?

Yes. Cloud services run on physical data centres, servers, storage and networks operated by providers. Cloud changes ownership and access; it does not eliminate the physical layer.

What is the difference between redundancy and high availability?

Redundancy provides duplicate components or paths. High availability combines appropriate redundancy with monitoring, failover, capacity and tested operating procedures to limit interruption.

Does replication replace backup?

No. Replication keeps another copy current, which can also reproduce deletion or corruption. Backups should preserve recoverable historical points, and disaster recovery coordinates the larger restoration process.

What do RTO and RPO mean?

RTO is the target time to restore a service. RPO is the maximum acceptable amount of recent data exposure measured in time.

Why can two internet providers still fail together?

They may share a local fibre, conduit, building entry, carrier, exchange, power source or upstream route. Provider names alone do not prove physical diversity.

What is a failure domain?

A failure domain is a group of components that can be affected by the same event. Good architecture separates critical resources across meaningful failure boundaries.

Is observability the same as monitoring?

Monitoring detects known conditions and service objectives. Observability provides enough context and evidence to investigate unfamiliar behavior across complex systems.

Do the tools send my entries to the website?

The tools are designed to run in the browser and do not submit entered values to this website. Avoid placing sensitive production details into any browser tool.

Does the site recommend vendors?

No. The publication explains concepts and trade-offs rather than ranking providers or producing individualized procurement recommendations.
